About Us

PWRFC was founded in 1976, making it the most established women's rugby club in the Philadelphia area.  The club currently fields a competitive Senior side as well as a Developmental side that compete in 15's in the fall and spring, and 7's in the summer. The Senior side finished the spring Division I third in the Mid Atlantic Conference, and the Developmental side typically competes against both Division I and  Division II sides. The competitive 7s team last qualified for nationals in 2015 and placed 7th. This year, Philly Women would like make another appearance on the national stage.

Practice is held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings throughout the summer and welcomes participation of all rugby experience and levels. The summer 7s competitive schedule includes four MAC qualifiers and participation in two other social tournaments. Participation in the National Championship will be contingent upon placement after all four qualifiers. The social side will look to compete in a variety of social tournaments, often in a separate location that that of the qualifiers. Both the competitive and social 7s teams compete against teams along the eastern seaboard with occasional travel throughout the country.

PWRFC has over 40 players on its public CIPP roster.  These players include many seasoned and dedicated players as well as players that have recently joined the club.  The roster has boasted several USA Women’s National Team pool players, USA U23 Women's National Team players, and MARFU and EPRU select side players as well as local college players.  PWRFC aims to support all levels of play and aspirations and is searching for a head coach for the 2017 Summer 7s season to help achieve these goals.

Any interested party should forward his or her rugby resume along with a brief statement of coaching philosophy to Kellie Vetter, Club President, at president@pwrfc.org. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Questions and further information about the position can be obtained by emailing the Club President.
